4 out of 5 stars The Original Nikon lens is worth youth money   August 3, 2008
Terrence Quah (Singapore)
I bought a "parallel" make of the wide-angle lens for my coolpix P5100. I claimed to have very good optics , multi-coated, etc etc. Seemed like a good deal. It "seemed" cheaper too.

However, the image quality left much to be desired, because the images taken with the wide-angle would get qutie blurred at the edges, because the lens was poorly made. AS a result, you get a wide-angled image but you are unable to have clear definition on about 30-40% of the photograph. That's not worth it at all!

Instead, the Nikon original is perfectly fitted for the P5100. The Wide-angle function enabled on the Nikon gives a visible distortion correction for the wide-angle converter, and remains clear even at the edges.

I can only say its worth it to buy the original. Don't be fooled by the cheaper imitations.

4 out of 5 stars good piece of equipment for a non-professional   May 8, 2008
Rebecca N. Prater (Suwon, ROK)
I'm not a professional photographer by any means, and I haven't even read Photography for Dummies. I just want to take some better pictures, and I wanted to get some lenses for my camera so that I can take the ones I want when the opportunity arises. So far, I have been impressed with the camera I have - the Coolpix P5000, and this lens. I have nothing to compare it to, since I'm a novice at the finer things of photography, but it has great focus and the wide angle conversion is clear and quite crisp. I'm a teacher; it gets my whole class in while I'm still inside the door. My classroom is pretty small, though my class is not, so I'm impressed! :)

4 out of 5 stars Great addition   January 2, 2008

The lens works well If you don,t use the cameras on board flash. The length of the lens gets in the way of the flash.I purchased a SB400 and It does just fine.If your going to mount a 52mm filter make It a thin one, regular filters will vignett. All In all I think It's a good addition If you shoot wide.

4 out of 5 stars Nikon Wide Angle Adapter Lens   November 25, 2007

The lens quality is excellent, especially for an adapter. But I would expect no less from Nikon. My only criticism is that the theoretical 35mm film equivalent result should have been just under a 24mm lens. However, the actual results seem to be not as wide as that, but somewhere just a bit wider than a 28mm lens.
