The tall candybar-style LG Voyager flips open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard, which also includes four-way navigation and send/end keys. It features dual 2.81-inch LCD screens, with both offering a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and support for 262K colors. The external screen provides touch-sensitive controls--simply tap icons to access functions or move your finger across the screen to scroll through menus or around Web pages. It also includes an onscreen virtual QWERTY keyboard for entering URLS and other data into Web pages. It's expandable via optional MicroSD memory cards with support for up to 8 GB of storage. The digital audio player is compatible with MP3, WMA, and AAC/AAC+ music files, and the phone includes dual speakers for music playback. Songs are auto organized by artist, genre, and album, and the Voyager includes an airplane mode that turns off the cell phone's receiver for continued playback while on a flight. Good phone for the non-business user, but navigation is terrible April 24, 2008

My husband bought me the Voyager for Christmas to provide me with a phone that had an internet browser and a navigational system. The browser works pretty well, and was much easier to figure out than my husband's browser on his blackberry. There are some sites you can't see such as most YouTube videos. Also, you can't pull up Yahoo or Google maps. But I was able to pull up my Yahoo email and my TimeWarner email on their webmail site as well as my Yahoo calendar. Wikipedia comes in fairly well and the web pics are incredibly clear. Overall, I'm very pleased with the browser, also it's much slower than a computer. (But then I'm used to high speed broadband.)
The screen is very easy to read. The camera works better than any phone camera I've seen, but has no flash which is a real drawback since phone flashes can double as a mini flashlight. The touchpad works pretty well, but it's a pain to always have to unlock the phone. I often have trouble with the touchpad for one button functions like speed dialing and scrolling through my contacts list. Also, the screen scratches easily, so you need a skin or case if you want to protect it. The keyboard, on the other hand is great and much easier to use than the blackberry keyboards. This phone accepts voice commands, but I rarely use them because the phone doesn't understand my Southern accent.
Unlike most blackberries, the Voyager has an mp3 player. If you're shopping, waiting for someone, riding the subway, etc., it's nice to pop in some earphones (you'll need an adapter for regular earphones) and listen to the music. You can also get a car adaptor and listen to music through your car stereo. It took a couple of tries before I figured out the music software, but now it's a breeze to add music to the phone. You'll need a memory card to store a decent amount of music. You can also listen to music through the speakers, but the quality is poor. Also the speakers aren't very loud, and that is true for the speakerphone too. But you can hear fine as long as there's not a lot of background noise.
One drawback with texting on this phone is I cannot figure out if there's an "autofill" for the address like you have in an email program. To send a text, you have to punch 6 buttons just to get to the contact list, then after you find the contact, there's another 3 buttons before you finally get to a text message screen to type in your message.
The worst feature of this phone is the navigational system. That was one of the reasons we picked this phone, but it does not compare to car navigational systems. I have used three different car systems and they all were much superior to VZ navigation. When I tried to use VZ, the features were confusing and it was slow switching between screens. Also there's a charge for using it. I used it during the trial period and wasn't impressed. The one time I paid to get directions, the street info it gave us was wrong.
Overall, it's a good choice for those who are looking for a cell phone with a browser and would like the benefits of an mp3 player too. But don't expect this to take the place of a laptop or a good car navigational system.

i tend to be one of those people who get used to and very attached to what i already have. i'm not really a person who is big on change. when my old phone broke, i just wanted to get the same phone again. and it was like that with the phone before it. but both times, the phones had gone obsolete. so both times, i needed to pick something else.
which, for someone who gets stuck in her ways, sucked really bad.
the voyager was a big jump for me, from going from a basic flip phone to something so seemingly complicated. i'm not a tech geek, but i'm also not technologically devoid either. i found this phone incredibly easy to get used to. everything about it just feels good--i love the way the buttons on the touch screen are responsive and vibrate when touched (sounds perverted, yes, but if you felt it, you'd know.) the touch screen itself is just awesome in general, and i love the way you can customize the menu on the inside with icons that will take you to your pics, texts, emails, mobile IMs, downloaded apps, tip calculator, or whatever else you use the most..being able to omit the stuff that you dont.
i used to be the fastest t9word texter in town on a regular number pad. i didnt think QWERTY was for me...but again, i was wrong. the only thing that sucks about this keypad is that i cant text and drive. but you really shouldnt text and drive so..rest assured, this phone is out there saving the lives of innocent drivers and civilians everywhere.
im not really into the web browsing on this thing, its nothing like using a pc, but i guess it proves helpful from time to time. i like being able to access my email from it though. all the other online chicanery can wait til i come home. i havent really gotten into using it as a music player or the GPS navigator either--i'd rather just have my IPod, my garmin, and my phone all be separate. because, like i said, i get attached to my devices and a little stuck in my ways.
but in general, i freaking love this phone.
i love it so much that i wrote a review for it..which i've never felt moved to do. hopefully this helps. :)

This phone is nothing more then a tricked out env.
Can hold 8 gigs of music as long as you have 20 minutes to spare before the music player opens.
Phone quit working after less then one month, selling the replacement and going back to blackberry.
This phone is designed for high school kids who want to look cool

First off let me start by saying I buy a new phone every 6 months. Waste of money I know but I love sell phones. So I paid top dollar for this phone. I text more than I make calls so I wanted a full keyboard. The voyager does have a great keyboard however as a phone it is terrible. You have to press so many keys to get to the touch pad while on the phone. For example if you are on a call that requires you to press the number sign or pound sign, you have to press3-4 buttons to get to the key pad. That is terrible. I close by saying that it is the best texting phone but the worst phone for calls. I have only had this phone since the end of December and I don't think I will make it the 6 months.
No Missed Call Alert April 4, 2008

The Voyager could quite possibly be the greatest cell phone in the history of western civilization except for one thing: There is no reminder alert for missed calls. You can set reminder alerts for voice mails and test messages, but NOT for missed calls. In other words, if someone calls and you don't hear the ring at the time, this phone will not alert you. if you have friends have gotten used to having you return their calls without leaving a voicemail, this is a problem. Yes, you I suppose you could just tell them to leave a message, but do you really want to be calling your voicemail that often?
And since the outside screen is normally blank, merely glancing at the phone won't help. You have to go through the procedure of unlocking the phone and activating the screen.
It is baffling that any manufacturer would design a cell phone that lacks such a basic feature.
