4 out of 5 stars Love it!   April 2, 2008

I love this phone, I've had it about 7 months and it has been great. The outside screen IS hard to see in sunlight, and yes it's squared and angular, but the metal exterior shell holds up better than any phone I've had in the last 15 years. Works great with both of the Bluetooth headsets I've used at one time or another. No problem picking up good reception in comparison to other Verizon phones in the same area.

1 out of 5 stars Worst LG Phone Offered by Verizon!! DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!   March 16, 2008

I have had this phone for about 4 months now. BLUETOOTH DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS PHONE!!! I would not have kept this phone except for the fact that it took, this long, with continual trips to Verizon to replace it before they finally offered to replace it with a different phone! The main problem is the Bluetooth software and how it connects to ANY bluetooth device. For some unexplained reason by LG, this phone will not keep and hold any connection to any bluetooth devices. This INCLUDES an LG bluetooth headset! (Believe me folks, I tried 5 different makes and models of Bluetooth to try and rectify this problem. LG HBM-730 model headset, Motorola H700 headset, Jawbone Aliph noise cancelling headset, Plantronics Voyager 520, Motorola Bluetooth Speakerphone etc. the list goes on) The main problem is the bluetooth devices will pair and connect with the phone successfully. Then, when you close the phone, the device will be disconnected. If you open it, the phone may or may not recognize the device. Some calls you will pick up and the call may be instantly transferred back to the phone, then switch back and vice versa. Verizon states that LG believes that a software update to version 1.2 or version 1.3 will correct this simple problem, but it does not. LG customer service is a complete joke, saying it is probably an issue with my bluetooth device, not their phone. Verizon customer service was pretty good, except you have to keep bringing this phone back at least 4 times, before they will offer you a comparable replacement phone. DO NOT settle for a cheap base phone that they offer the first couple times! On pure principle, if you were like me you bought this phone for at least $149.99 after a rebate of some sort. NEVER again would I buy an LG phone after this experience.

5 out of 5 stars Very good phone   March 15, 2008

I have had this phone for a while now and really like it. Perfect no but am not sure there is a perfect anything out there. It is stylish for sure and very easy to use. I like the size as well as the weight and balance and the overall quality. Have read the reviews complaining of smudges and finger prints but find them to be very minimal and easy to clean. Sound and call quality is very good as is battery life between charges. Overall the key pad is fine except for the pwr/END button, it is to small. I often hit the number 3 button below it or the speaker button above when powering on or off. As for the speaker function, that is my biggest grip about this phone. You can only engage the speaker function once you are on a call, awkward. But that may be just fine as the speaker quality is so poor you may not bother using it anyway. Other negatives I have read about are the placement of the charge port and the memory card, neither have bothered me. When shopping for this phone the main competitor it was up against was the new Razr but side by side the Razr felt cheap and really did pick up every smudge from my fingers.

4 out of 5 stars I like it, but if you don't, that's okay too   March 14, 2008

I've been reading some of the other responses on here and I just want to say this: If you don't like this phone, it's okay with me.

I bought it just over a week ago and have noticed some flaws that other users have noticed. It scratches very easily, the numbers are a little hard to text with because they are so flat, etc. But overall I like it. I read some reviews online and the point of this phone is more for style and less for practicality. So if you bought it because it's cool, then you probably aren't expecting perfection. If you want perfection, don't buy this phone.

Overall, the features all work, and yes, the screen is a little dim outside, but that's okay. My biggest complaint is that the battery life is relatively short. One other reviewer complained that it took almost an hour to fully charge, but I have to admit, that's a perk for me. My last phone took much, much longer than that.

Also, yes, the speakerphone only works when you are actually on the phone. I happen to like this feature, because listening to the button noises on speakerphone when I'm dialing aren't all that appealing to me. I do not like the voice command features and wish I knew a way to turn them off. This was not available on my last phone (but was on the one before) and I didn't miss it.

I do not find the outside buttons at all irritating, but rather convenient when you want to silence the ringer without answering the phone. Hitting the button once, twice, three times does not send the person calling to voice mail. I don't know why people think this. All it does is silence the ringer. So feel free to answer it even though it stopped ringing.

I'm a big fan of LG phones and this is no exception. I am unable to give it five stars because, while I like it a lot, I do not love it. It's sleek, styling, but a little uncomfortable to hold to the ear. No, it's not erganomically correct, but as I said above, you want to buy this phone because it's cool. You'll get used to its awkwardness after a while.

Someone also complained that you can't change the volume on the phone while it's shut. Well, you can't do this on any LG phone, at least none that I've owned (and this is my fourth one). I guess the thing I like most about it is that it's exactly like almost every other LG except it's newer and cooler. If you like LG, imperfections and all, and want a new phone that's fun, buy this one.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful phone except when outside on bright sunny days   February 25, 2008
I use my phones as a cell phone and not an internet device. All of the features of this phone work perfectly for my uses, and I'm starting to like the camera and video features as well. I especially love the weight of the phone and the stainless exterior that make it feel less like a toy than some competitors. Like other modern cell phones, the LCDs are nearly impossible to read in the sun. My old Samsung S-105 was the only phone I ever saw that had a good external LCD for viewing in sunlight because it had a reflective background behind the monochrome LCD. I miss that feature occasionally, but overall am very happy that I upgraded to this modern LG!
