5 out of 5 stars web cam user   October 11, 2008

I bought the Logitech QuickCam Communicate MP to replace a QuickCam Communicate STX whose microphone failed 8 months after I bought it. The MP unit is performing well, so far (a month).

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   October 6, 2008
David P. Swanson
For all the claims about high resolution, this camera produces poor images. It seems that the "fixed focus" lens is never focused. I've tried sitting at various distances from the camera, and all of the images are fuzzy. Maybe the lens is just a lousy lens. The only redeeming qualities are the bundled software, which seems to work fine, and I like the "privacy" feature, which is sort of a glorified sliding lens cover. I hope there are better cameras out there in the same price range, as I did not consider this camera to be inexpensive. I would not recommend this camera to a friend, and if I had it to do over again, I would not get this camera, but opt for one with adjustable focus.

1 out of 5 stars software problems   October 3, 2008

I installed this on my desk and laptop. The software wiped out my cd and dvd drivers. Customer service was no help at all. I had to use recovery on the desktop. Uninstalling upper and lower filters worked on the laptop.
I reinstalled via the website and the same problem happened.
Not worth the headache!

Previously we purchased a cheaper web cam. This was not a good thing. We then decided upon the logitech. The picture is great and we are enjoying being able to talk to our friends and see them at the same time. This was a great purchase for us!
