Nice ONLY if you are running XP 32 sp2 May 28, 2007 James Eighmey (San Marcos, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bottom line, if you expect to upgrade your OS forget this cam. It will not run under Linux. It will not run under XP x64 and probably never will. After two years of lead time it still only has beta drivers for Vista x32 (none for 64) which do not work and for which there is no tech support. Unfortunately the same can be said for most of the creative cam products. Unless you want to be hung out to dry buy some other brand.
Ultra Cam May 14, 2007 B. PETROKUS (Royal Palm Beach, Florida United States) I liked the easy setup. No problems. I used a pair of cheap sunglasses and put them over the lens to view outside. Works great! Good price for a USB cam. The motion detection is not too good, trips off with shadows and changes of light. Overall good cam for the price.
Faulty Unit & Software April 9, 2007 Steven R. Van Hook (Santa Barbara, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After just 6 months of minimal use, the camera lost its green reception, so now there's a only purplish red and blue image. Tech support says send it in for a repair (shipping paid by me), though I don't think it's worth it. Also the software/driver conflicts with my Creative Zen mp3 player, and caused problems with start-up. I don't recommend it.
No built-in microphone - this is for video only March 10, 2007 Charles (USA) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was surprised when I got this product. It IS for video ONLY. All Logitech webcams I used before come with an integrated microphone. This one does need a separate microphone to talk through the net. There is a tiny microphone in the package though, but I am really uncomfortable to hang it on my ear when I need to talk. Also, how can a headphone be shared by more than one person? You may need to purchase a bigger microphone to free your ear up and/or to share it.
The worst product ever March 3, 2007 psychtobe (Longview, WA United States) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Disclaimer - this is my first webcam. It may be my last, if they're all like this one. I ordered this product and received it quickly. That is the only good news. It is all downhill from there. The installation froze and had to be rebooted twice before it would work. The second time it also froze, but I unstuck one of the reboots and got the other to work. The camera itself does not securely latch to a flat-screen monitor. It falls off easily. The microphone headset is flimsy and does not stay on my ear. The webcam software freezes over and over and over again. It freezes most when trying to hook into Yahoo IM. The only support provided in the tutorial for the "Broadcast" function is (quote): "You must have downloaded Yahoo Instant Messenger 6.0 for this function to work." Absolutely no idea how to troubleshoot from that point forward. Every time I launch Broadcast, the entire program freezes. It gets better. Even when the program is not frozen, it almost always shows a black screen with the phrase "The Creative Webcam is temporarily unavailable." The screen eventually shows a brief still photo from the webcam, then goes back to black screen. I visited the manufacturer's website. Support has 3 options. 1. Email - I have received no response after 24 hours. 2. Phone call - the website advises looking into your product manufacturer documentation to find a phone number. There is none. There is a phone number on the website, but it charges $12.99 per call. Phone support is free if you purchased within 60 days, but in order to contact them, you have... you guessed it, find the phone number in your documentation. 3. online documentation. This is totally useless and did not provide any help for the myriad of problems this product faces. In short, this is a piece of junk. It is already on its way back to the website. A combination of shoddy manufacturing, buggy software, and horrible customer service spells doom.
