Great price for a webcam, awful price for a paperweight November 26, 2007 dianemarie123 (Illinois) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Which is essentially what this is. I'm not dumb enough to expect anything elaborate for this kind of money, but I do expect something that works and has at least a little basic information in its user manual. It took half an hour to 45 minutes to figure out how to adjust the picture settings so I don't look like a green slime monster, and half an hour trying to figure out why the test video I made had no sound, before I gave up and bundled the thing back in its box to take back to the store tomorrow. I might have had more patience if their user manual weren't so useless. There's tons of stuff on how to do fancy videos, but not even a rudimentary troubleshooting chart that says something like "no sound" or "colors distorted". My advice would be, don't waste your money.
i like it June 19, 2004 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
i recently bought this cam with in the last week. since my previous cam had broke, i was pleasantly surprised by the wide range of motion you can do with the cam as well as with the hi resolution picture it produces. my friends agree that for such a low price it is really user friendly as well a great buy. all in all, this cam is a great buy.
works great May 3, 2004 cindy (Modesto, CA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am very happy with my new GE web cam. the reason I only give it 4 out of 5 stars is that you do need a little additional light when using at night. I found that a little $10 halogen desk lamp also from target.com provides enough additional light. Works fantasticly with daylight thought. A great buy from 20 bucks.
Its OK but not the best! April 5, 2004 Sheena (Aberdeen, MD) 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
yeah the cam was a cheap price and buying something cheap u cant expect 100% quality. well the so called "mic" thats installed doesnt work at all and the lighting and pixel are terrible. no matter how much light u have in a room it still seems to dark! so if your looking for something cheap with not so great quality this is a great pick!
I have Pro version of this camera March 2, 2004 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have a Pro version, that has 300K pixels (instead of 100K for basic model) CMOS sensor. Picture is good even in the room with only one light source(~60W). Microphone is not that great, but that can be fixed by buying one for under $10. I didn't use bundled software (video and still photo capture), I used Movie Maker that came with my WinXP and they cooperated just fine. Also, it seems that this camera is compatible with Linux (didn't try, found info on the net). I think it's worth the money, especially when compared to more expensive models (Logitech, $50-$120).
