this camera was good for the first month of use.
Anyone that wants to use this camera needs to know that it loves to feed on battery life. Mine just keeps on dying continously and i am finding it most imposabily to keep up .. If youre looking to obtain a fairly new Logitech ClickSmart unit.. look for it in the local dump .. i've now gone with the Sony unit that has 200 mins+ per 2 AA batteries!

5 out of 5 stars The clickmart 510 was the best camrera logitek ever sold   July 5, 2005

The picture quality on the logitech cliksmart 510 is the best of all the cameras they ever sold. I have two others, the Orbit and an 820. neither of which have the same picture quality and color saturation of the 510. Too bad they don't m ake them any more.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to Use, Good Value   December 7, 2003

This is the first camera I bought to use as a webcam. I bought it specifically to communicate with my family while deployed. But since it also can be used as a regular digital camera, although not the same quality, I got more than just a webcam. The pictures I took seem to be just great quality anyhow.

Without getting into technical stuff which I don't have time to understand, I'd say one the greatest strengths of this camera is it's ease of use. You could say it really is plug and play. I put in the batteries, inserted the disk and connected the cord. Then it loads up pretty easy. I got an account thru Yahoo Messenger and in no time I was able to see and talk to my wife and son. In fact the hardest part was talking to my wife about how to connect her camera.

The camera seems well designed. It feels solid, durable, not delicate. It uses regular AAA batteries, even comes with optional sound. That's useful if you ever wonder -- did the picture take? The stand that makes it a webcam is maneuverable and practical -- you can set it just how you want.

I think it is a good value, but you may find a better price elsewhere.

I primarly baught this as a webcam, to chat with my friends and family, while living overseas. It has been fabulous as a webcam, and so far I'm pleased with the way it performs. I also baught one for my father, and he has been pleased with his as well. However, I've had issues with the media card that came with it. I only took one picture with mine (several with my fathers), and now it won't work. I went to the FAQ page for logitech and apparently it's a normal problem. They claim I have to have the card replaced. I'm not greatly bothered by this, as I was planning on getting a larger card anyway, but until I do, the fact that the camera is a dual mode means nothing. This is the reason I only give it four stars. However, my dad hasn't had any problems with his, so I'd recommend this camera to anyone. In fact, I already have.
Also,as a digital camera, don't expect anything spectacular. If you wan't a great digital picture, get a great digital camera. I baught this to give myself a clear picture when chatting online, not to get a great picture.

NEGATIVE:
- too big.
- the stand is hard to adjust and mine broke, so i cant adjust it at all. the camera is so heavy that it just leans down because the stand cant even keep it up anymore.
- when it's not connected to the computer, the flash sucks. it's too bright when you take a picture. everything is white.
- the settings and coloring aren't that good.

POSITIVE:
+ clear pictures
+ portable
... etc.
