Product Description
Images of world-shaping events--and how the photojournalists got that shot

* 180 breathtaking photographs of current events
* The amazing stories and techniques behind the pictures
* Pictures and advice from top photojournalists around the world

There are many single, striking images that encapsulate an event. Often, though, the photojournalists--who go to dangerous lengths to capture the moment--remain under the radar. The latest in the stunning World s Top Photographers series honors the world s leading photojournalists, celebrating work that is gritty, provocative, beautiful, instructive, and often shocking. Incisive interviews with the photographers reveals the stories behind the pictures, their techniques, and their inspiration, giving greater insight into the human journey. From battlefields and civil unrest to documentary images of the finest achievements of mankind, The World s Top Photographers: Photojournalism brings together a collection of images of the current events that have shaped our times.

3 out of 5 stars Interesting but   May 17, 2008

In some ways, this book is interesting-interviews and biographies of some top photo journalists. However, it is full of stereotyped photograghs. Endless war pictures, gritty images of disasters or third world people struggling. Photojournalism is about all of life, both the gritty and the joyful. There isn't much joyful but there are plenty of cliches. I would get this book from the library, study it and return it. But not buy it.

This is a great, highly recommended book of photos with captions of some of the best photojournalists of the past twenty years. The bios have great descriptions of how each photographer got into the business, and also what type of gear they use. A great glimpse into this powerful art form.
