Amazon.com Product Description
The Canon Pixma Pro9500 is an inkjet printer that features a 10-color pigment ink system for extraordinarily vivid images up to 13 by 19 inches. This versatile unit's advanced software can perform camera-direct printing of contact sheets and can support fine art papers in a variety of sizes, making it ideal for the creation of professional images.

The Pro9500 gives you the flexibility to produce truly striking and unique images. First, the ink system includes gray, black, and matte black cartridges that collectively produce monochrome photographs on both fine art and glossy photo papers. With pigment ink, photographers will enjoy incredibly smooth gradations and long-lasting prints that resist the damaging effects of light for up to 100 years. And the 4800 x 2400 dot-per-inch (dpi) maximum resolution means every image will catch the eye with its high level of detail. The Pro9500 also offers two separate paper paths, including a front feeder for heavyweight paper trays. Finally, it works fast so you can see your results quickly: a photo lab quality 11-by-14-inch color photo prints in approximately four minutes.

What's in the Box
Pixma Pro9500 photo printer, print head, PGI-9 ink tanks (matte black, black, cyan, magenta, yellow, photo cyan, photo magenta, red, green, gray), power cord, easy setup instructions, and document kit (setup software and user's guide CD-ROM, quick start guide, registration card, cross sell sheet).

4 out of 5 stars Canon Pixma 9500 pro   June 13, 2008
TechConsumer (OrlandoFL)
This printer is not for those who like a push button no hassle photo. It produces high quality prints up to 13 x 19 inches, but does require some attention to the printed directions on the part of the user.
Prints from this on pearl paper have been very good. The canon utilities for this printer work fine. I have been using it with an IMAC.
It uses high quality pigment inks that will last. 4800 x 2400 dpi resolution and 10 ink cartridges. Cartridge value pack is about $115/10 cartridges.

5 out of 5 stars Great printer, great deal   June 5, 2008

First off, I got this printer for around half off because a friend of mine was ordering a Canon 40D, so we made it a combo purchase.

The goal I was trying to achieve, in order to make the purchase worthwile, was at least the same quality of photos as I was getting from some of the on-line photo developing places.

This printer has actually surpassed my expectations! I'm getting better prints than before, not paying shipping, and getting immediate feedback to help me make adjustments.

Downsides include playing with different printer settings, different papers and wasting a bunch of ink figuring things out.

The best paper I've found so far is the Canon Photo Plus semi-gloss. I haven't really liked the fine-art papers much, though they might be good for black and white prints.

5 out of 5 stars expensive but well worth it   May 13, 2008

I bought good camera started reading on how to take better pictures. I learn something new each time I shoot. I started to improve my picture taking and then I bought Photoshop and then things really started to take off for me. The only element that was missing was the ability to print here at the house. After thinking about getting a printer I decided that if I was going to get one I was going to a great one. My other equipment is Canon and I have been very happy so far with them so I bit the bullet and got the Pro9500. What a great piece of equipment. The photos are breath taking! The Pro9500 is a serious piece of photo equipment that will make you very happy you got one. If you are thinking about getting a printer and do not have the cash yet, save a little longer a buy this one. I am very happy with it and I think that you would be too. I have a ton of things to still learn about colors control and calibrating things. Once I have learned how to do that I think that my photos will be even better. That would be my only advice to anyone new to this field. Try to learn as much as you can about color output on each of your devices, cameras, monitors, scanners and printers. For me it is very confusing but I am getting there little by little. For mothers day the kids and I made a collage of old and new photos of the kids and printed it out on a 13x19 print made on this printer. We were blown away by it! This printer will print a 13x19 that looks like a pro made it. I challenge anyone to look at the print we made here on this printer and try to convince me that a pro did not make it.

5 out of 5 stars Best Printer ever made!   March 1, 2008

Bought this to replace my I960 with something that does b+W also. The colors are out of this world. The most life-like I have ever seen. I thought my old printer was good until I re-printed some shots on this printer that I had previously printed with the I960 . I found shades and details that didn't print, or printed faintly on the I960 were present and vivid on the 9500. Black and white is indistingushable from my old darkroom days. I was an avid B+W shooter and printer, and gave up on ever being able to do my own prints again until now. I didn't believe a printer could perform this well. I have gone crazy printing everything I have, just to see the amazing shades I get with no wierd colors. THe ink tanks do seem a bit small, but last fairly long. It's hard to tell since I am printing more then I used to! Be aware, this sucker is BIG. It weights a ton, and takes a lot of room. Remember to leave 17 inches at least behind it for the front feed to work. My only complaint is the print speed. I guess good things are worth waiting for, but I am keeping my I960 for routine jobs because it is much faster. Besides, who needs great output for flyers and graphics that get thrown in a day or two.

Canon PIXMA Pro9500 10-color large-format photo printer
This printer gives very nice photo's. It's hard to tell the difference between them and the one's you get at the store. I'm not an expert and still finding new things about the photo program that comes with the printer, it uses raw photo's and I'm new to working them. Over all getting through the program is the hard part the printer does exceptional photo's
