Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
High speed, sharp resolution, and economical ink refills: Could you ask for more in a home printer? The Canon PIXMA ip3000 is designed with 1,600 nozzles that produce tiny 2-picoliter droplets, resulting in finely detailed images that are worthy of saving in your family photo albums. Pigment-based inks insure colors will stay true, and the prints are resistant to water, fading, and smudges.

Precision Color Distribution Technology
Unlike other systems, nozzle configuration in Bubble Jet printers is simple, so it is easier to make them smaller and more dense. Using its superior semiconductor manufacturing technology, Canon has succeeded in developing an ultrahigh-precision, multinozzle print head. The problem of color inconsistency has been solved by positioning a mirror-image line of 128 nozzles (600 dpi pitch for each color) at a half-pitch offset from the existing line. This configuration also provides the added advantage of enabling high-resolution printing at 1,200 dpi.

Easy-PhotoPrint v3.0
While most photo-editing software applications will brighten the entire image, Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 accurately detects the subject's face and adjusts the skin to the optimum tone. Brighten dark faces caused by bright backgrounds. Choose from one-click automatic to correct the entire image all at once, or manual to correct just a selected area.

Before
After

Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 also lets you select and print any image on your PC, perfectly trim images, correct images using lab-quality retouching features, correct red-eye, smooth facial lines and skin tone, sharpen faces, remove blemishes, and print in a variety of sizes and layouts.

Exif Print Technology
Exif 2.2 is the worldwide printer independent standard for digital image processing. Under Exif 2.2, the digital still camera can record data tags for specific camera settings and functions such as whether the flash was on or off, if the camera was in landscape, portrait or night scene mode, etc. Referencing some or all of this information, an Exif Print compatible application can process digital camera images intelligently based on specific camera settings and the shooting environment.

With resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi black and 4,800 x 1,200 dpi color, your office documents or school reports will look as good as your photos. Built-in two-sided printing reduces your paper costs and allows you truly professional design options.

This printer can connect directly to select digital cameras. Learn more about PictBridge.
Top speeds of 22 ppm black and 15 ppm color (draft mode) will have your pages in hand in just a few seconds; a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo can take as little as 36 seconds--as fast as those old instant cameras, but with much better quality. Thanks to the PictBridge-compatible direct print port, you can connect your digital camera and churn out photos while bypassing your computer system.

The ip3000 is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems, and requires only a USB cable to get it up and running (cable not included). Canon provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

Product Description
The Canon Pixma iP3000 Photo Printer delivers speed, quality and convenience in a stylish package. How fast is it? It produces up to 22 ppm in black and up to 15 ppm in color and a beautiful 4" x 6" borderless print takes only 36 seconds. Plus, you have the convenience of direct photo printing: simply connect any PictBridge-compatible digital camera or DV camcorder, and print! This PC-free process eliminates the need to be tied to your computer saving you time. But the Pixma iP3000 Photo Printer isn't just fast. It also achieves impressive detail and clarity, as a result of Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE). This technology features an upgraded 1,600-nozzle print head that ejects precise, consistent droplets as small as 2 picoliters, for amazing photo-realism. This high-efficiency printer also uses a specially formulated black ink for laser-like text on reports and letters, along with high-intensity color inks for brilliant photos and graphics. Your borderless photos, from 4 x 6 up to 8.5 x 11 in., will have the look and feel of traditional photographs. To help reduce printing costs, this efficient system has four individual ink tanks that let you replace only the color that runs out, rather than an entire cartridge containing unused ink. Plus, a unique low-ink sensor alerts you when ink levels are low, so you are prepared to just drop in a new tank when needed.

5 out of 5 stars Best Printer i Ever Owned   February 13, 2008
Michael Redman (Twin Falls, ID USA)
By far the best printer i have ever owned. I have had Lexmark, Epson, other Canons, HP, and this beats them all hands down. I love the paper tray so i am not always having to reload. Easy on ink. Print quality is outstanding. And it lasts forever. I have never worn out a printer, just print heads and similar parts. But that seems to happen pretty quick after the warranty ends. I don't think i ever had another printer (except the old reliable pre-inkjet type) for that a year. I can't remember when i got this one i have had it so long. I think it is at least 3 years old and maybe a good bit older and still cranking. I think Canon thinks it was a pretty good machine because i returned a different printer that had issues and they replaced it with this one. At first i was miffed because i had done a lot of research and thought the other was THE ONE. Then i used this one a bit and forgot all about the other one. AFter all this use it occasionally says it is out of paper when there are a few sheets left, but that is its only issue. Most trouble free high quality printer i evern had. When it dies i am calling Canon to get their recommendation unless they are still selling this one.

5 out of 5 stars Dependable all-around printer- great for college students   December 13, 2007
J. Houde (New Jersey, USA)
I bought this printer when I entered college, 4 years ago, and it has preformed great for the whole time. This printer is really a jack-of-all trades, with fast crisp text and adequate quality picture prints. I mainly use this for printing out reports, and it does so with ease (those not familiar with modern ink-jets will be amazed at how quickly it can crank out text pages). I also take alot of digital photos, and use this to make medium-quality prints for my friends and family; the two tray paper system it uses makes it easy to keep a supply of plain paper and photo paper in the unit and select either with a button push. The built in pic-bridge port is great when I want low-quality proof prints right away!

4 out of 5 stars Very good printer   September 29, 2007

Color photos come out with different color. They look like with more contrast. I wish the auto feeder could support at least 2 types of input such as photo papers and letter size papers. It prints very good jobs except for the photos.

4 out of 5 stars Better Printers Out There   August 7, 2007

I bought this printer over two years ago for my office. It has been printing fine, but is a very slow printer. It takes a good two or three minutes just to warm up. Canon support was good to help when I had an issue with it last year when it was still under warranty. I would recommend finding a newer model, and still sticking with Canon since I've had better experiences with them than HP. HP seems to install a lot of unneeded software on your computer.

5 out of 5 stars Great double siding printer   June 8, 2007
Craig (Northern Virginia)
This is my low cost travel printer that double sides like a champ. I highly recommend it.
