Product Description
The Card Photo Printer CP-100 connects directly to Canon's range of digital cameras for effortless high-quality photos. Expanding the "Direct Print" printer line-up, the CP-100 offers print size flexibility including 10 x 15 cm (4" x 6"), credit card size and stickers. By simply connecting the digital camera to the direct printer by means of a dedicated cable and selecting an image, a perfect, borderless print can be delivered and passed around in just over 80 seconds. The CP-100 uses dye-sublimation technology that can re-create photos with millions of colors. The printer builds up a full color image by merging three separate color layers; yellow, magenta and cyan, and then applies a protective layer that adds the durability of a traditional print. The CP-100 assures superb true photo quality prints that look and feel like a traditional silver halide print.

Amazon.com Product Description
The Canon card photo printer CP-100 connects directly to several Canon PowerShot digital cameras and is sufficiently light and compact to go anywhere you take your camera (printer battery pack not included). All print settings are made directly from the camera's LCD, obviating the need for a computer and simplifying the process of obtaining high-quality color prints.

With its cool translucent blue case and metallic styling, the CP-100 is the ultimate imaging accessory for Canon digital cameras, including PowerShot models A40, A30, and A100. You can choose from three print sizes: 4 by 6 inches, credit-card size, and the smaller label size. Using dye-sub print technology, the printer produces credit card-size prints in just 40 seconds and full-color postcard-size prints in 81 seconds.

Other features include the ability to produce card-size labels and mini-labels (photo stickers) for added imaging fun. The CP-100 applies a clear UV overcoat to each print for extended longevity. You also have a choice of bordered or borderless prints, and the CP-100 is compatible with DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) to facilitate batch printing, e-mail transfers, and print ordering through online photo labs.

Optional accessories for the Canon CP-100 printer include a dedicated battery, computer connection kit, and car battery adapter. The unit is backed by a one-year warranty.

3 out of 5 stars connector incompatible with PC USB port   March 19, 2004

Print quality is good. But the cables come with printer can only connect to Canon digital cameras (I tried poershot and EOS 10D), it cannot connect to PC UBS ports, though it looks like UBS connector. So, there is no way you can print a picture to cp-x00 from a PC.
Anybody there know a way to print from a PC?

4 out of 5 stars Great picture quality!   June 24, 2003

I have been very pleased with this printer. So long as your resolution is set very high on your camera your pictures will be as good as lab quality!

The only downside is it does not come with a disk to run this printer with your computer or the cable needed. You have to buy it directly from Cannon. Also I have had a few pictures come out with very faint lines or dots.

I would purchase this printer again if I had to make the decision for a second time.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality Photos   April 30, 2003

This is an excellent little printer. The quality of the images produced is great. Just as good as traditional film developed photos. It's easy to setup & use either directly from my camcorder or via my computers(with the appropriate accessory CCK-CP200). This is my first experience with a dye sublimation printer & I can tell you the quality of the images produced far surpasses most inkjet printers. The only drawbacks about this printer is it only prints small sizes 4 x 6's & Wallet size 2 x 3's. There is a 3.5" x 5" size but its only available overseas. The paper/ink packs are not easy to find other than online & their not cheap. 36 - 4" x 6" prints will run about [money], Wallets about [money]. Overall however this is a great printer which I enjoy using.

5 out of 5 stars Photos that truly look and feel professional.   April 19, 2003

This printer produces 4X6 prints on postcard paper that look like they came from a photo lab. The quality is fantastic, and the relatives were in awe. I am very very happy with the printer and the Canon S400 camera I use it with. I now have a portable print studio. Do not confuse this printer with ink jet printers. It uses dye sublimation, a completely different printing process. The result is something that looks and feels like a glossy photo postcard, not a piece of paper. You don't put ink in it, so there is no ink to jam your print nozzles since neither exist in this printer. You buy the equivalent of ink and paper in kits made from Canon. (KP-36IP, for example)

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful prints and easy to use   March 4, 2003

This printer was very easy to use. Just pop in the cartridge, paper, and plug in the camera. The camera has to be a certain type of Canon, but there is an available computer cable (I have not gotten it yet), to hook up other cameras. The benefit of using a Canon camera with this printer is you can travel without a computer, and still print out pictures. These pictures look beautiful, and the colors are true and bright. Printing couldn't be easier and fast. I was able to get a print while my 2 year old was frantically trying to pull the plugs, press the buttons and all arms and legs struggling. It's fun watching the three colors slide in and out in the three passes the printer makes to process the picture. Instant gratification!
