Long lasting battery April 15, 2008

The Samsung battery has worked very well in my Samsung camcorder -- much better than the third party battery I bought at the same time, which runs out of power after only 8 minutes. The Samsung battery, on the other hand, recently kept my camcorder going all afternoon while I filled an entire mini-DV tape with video -- and the battery is several years old!

This battery does NOT fit ALL Samsung camcorders, as stated in Amazon's descriptive material.
I was trying to find a battery for a Samsung SC-D353 Mini DV camcorder. While it does fit several Samsung camcorders, there are many models it doesn't fit. Mine happens to be one of the many that it won't fit. I have since returned the battery to Amazon for a refund.

The 20X optical zoom is amazing, a must have in any camcorder. The controls, ON/OFF and RECORD are well placed. Good image stabilization. I like having both USB and IEEE1394 ports.

The bad news: It has very poor low-light level performance. And the 900X digital zoom is useless.

I don't like the recommendation to remove the battery when not in use although this may be common for camcorders (this is my first). Why not have a battery on-off switch?

Over-all, I like this camera. A great camera to have around for taking family pictures.
