Great filter, but you will need the April 9, 2008 Stephen T. Crye (Mars) The Conversion lens adapter came with your DSC-H1. I had forgotten about it, and when the filter arrived, was baffled as to how to attach it lest the lens extend out and smash into the filter. Naturally, the first-level tech support for Sony (based in India - ) was completely clueless. Luckily, a second-level person sent me this this link: [...] and I dug the adapter out of the box. Hurray! The filter, as do all polarizing filters, is designed to rotate after it is attached. Again, Sony India-based tech support, during a pre-sales call, was clueless, and insisted that the filter would not rotate. My only criticism is that the filter does not attach directly to the end of the lens, but instead goes on the conversion adapter, increasing the bulk and weight of the camera. I'm thinking about ordering the 30mm version - it might fit directly on the threaded end of the retractable lens.
Great Product / Poor Seller (ANTOnline) November 12, 2007 John E. Mckinney, Jr. I ordered the polarizing lens and thought I ordered the wrong item after making the purchase. However, I came to find out that the polarizing kit did indeed fit my camera. My own mistake, oops! So, the polarzing kit works great and is a must have! After I purchased the polarizing kit through ANTOnline, I tried to return the product. They would not do it! If you buy an item through ANTOnline, you had better make sure it is the right one because they will turn you over to the manufacturer. Whatever the case may be I highly reccommend to NOT purchase anything from ANTOnline. I have read a lot of bad things about them and realize after I made the purchase that I had made a mistake, hope you don't do the same!
Simple screw on lens. Whats else is there to say? October 3, 2007 Leonard Cascia A bit over priced if you ask me for a simple screw on item. Theres only one and the other is clear. Works fine otherwise and the photos come out a lot better on sunny days. Knocks out the glear.
Nice Polarizing filter February 11, 2007 yruhere (houston) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What do you get: 1 multicoated polarizing filter, 1 multicoated lens filter, two plastic cases and a black pouch for storing the filters (see photos). Performance: Polarizers are often used to increase the contrast (such as making the sky more blue) and removing reflections from water. They are not expected to work under all situations and work the best when the angle of the photo is 90 degree to the sun. The sony VF-58CPKS does a good job both in increasing the contrast as well as removing reflections, though you should not expect some magic. The multi-coat is supposed to ensure that almost all light is passed onto the lens without any blockage and personally I didn't find any difference in the meter reading with or without the filter. Also since it's a circular polarizer, the auto focus (in my case DSC H5) works without any problems. The additional plain multi coated filter serves as a great lens protector and can be used when the polarizer is not in use. One other thing is that you can attach the polarizing kit infront of the sony neutral density filter VF-58M. I haven't however tried to see what effects it creates though. The bottom line: Although it does a good job say in making the sky more blue, I was hoping it to do a slightly better job.
Totally worth it! March 20, 2006 L. F. Balbinot (Porto Alegre, RS Brazil) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The lenses are excellent and have a very professional finish. The "free" protector lense is really usefull when going outdoors. It all came in a very compact case that you can carry along with your camera. A PL filter is the first thing to buy after the camera!
