Product Description The SLIK 300DX is designed to meet the wide-ranging needs of today's "go anywhere" serious enthusiast, professional still photographer or videographer. The 300DX combines the perfect balance between a location tripod, with its compact size and easy-to-carry weight, and the strength and versatility normally expected with larger studio versions. It fully supports up to 11 pounds (5.0kg) of equipment. The professional, black anodized finish is standard and provides a low reflective surface. With a maximum operating height of 61.25" (1550mm) and a folded length of only 25.75" (655mm), the 300DX is designed to set up quickly and easily in the studio or on location. The 3-way pan head features an omni directional quick release camera mount, as well as precise, individual locking controls for pan and tilt movements. The "Lift n Lock" center column features an easy-to-grasp oversized locking collar, for fast setup and breakdown. Unique to the 300DX tripod are its sealed-channel "D" shaped leg extension segments. There provide exceptional strength while assuring zero rotational movement or "twist." Individual, three-position leg-angle locks allow unusual terrain adjustments or for low angle camera use. The 300DX is further enhanced with the addition of a tough, protective, clear-coat on leg extensions and center column. Rubber leg tips provide maximum traction outdoors and necessary protection to surfaces indoors.

Good Amateur Level Tripod April 26, 2006 Betty D. Ganger (Elkhart, IN USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am a reasonably new photographer and have been using a older video camera tripod. A couple months ago that one broke and i desperately needed a new one. I started looking for some in the 50 dollar range. But none of them seemed to have the quality i was looking for. This one was exactly what i needed and will be able to hold a good amount of weight from your camera and most telephoto lenses. The tripod overall is very solid and the center column has two ways of securing it (not sure if this is common) There have already been a couple times where the one screw in stop saved me from having my camera slam in to the column holder. I really like this tripod and wold recommend it to anyone who is looking for a all a round sturdy and nice tripod. Don't spend any less on another tripod buy this one! It is worth it. I will never go back to the cheaper stuff ever.
Brand name, solid build, flexible features and good price. December 22, 2005 Haibing Zhang (Arlington Heights, IL USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am very happy for this purchase. It is truly a pro level product. It has a solid metal head that is easy to adjust. Quick release lock is a big plus. Everything is great and it only cost half of Bogen tripod plus head. The flexible feature I was talk about is that you can easily extend angle of each leg in two stops. See my pictures above. The only thing not so perfect is that the leg lock is by screw, takes a little time but very secure indeed. It gives very stable support, even when the center bar is raised to the top. I found using it as a monopod is fun too, and even one leg supports my 6 lb system very solid. If you are in a market of a $70 tripod, you will be surprised by the quality; If you are a pro and planning to spend $200 - $300 on a tripod plus head, you might be surprised by the price. :)
