Customer Reviews:
Is this rechargeable battery REALLY 3 Volts? December 25, 2007 Odin7 (Maryland, USA) I just purchased 10 non-rechargeable CR123A Lithium 3 volt batteries for my Canon "slave" flash. It takes only one but this type of battery has a multi-year storage life and I actually found a company that sells MADE IN THE USA batteries for $1.50 each! So I bought a bunch at a good price. I also investigated the "rechargeable" type such as the Lenmar DLCR123. These also have about half the MilliAmpHours of the non-rechargeables per use (or charge cycle). The problem is that although they may have the same physical dimensions, these are Lithium-ION batteries and I believe (Please verify for yourself) that this chemistry can yield voltages as high as 4.2 volts when fully charged. There have been reports of flashlight bulbs blown with rechargeables like these. Unless Lenmar has worked some tech magic to keep the voltage no higher than 3V, I just would not trust an expensive flash unit to a battery that may supply an overvoltage and which may fry its electronics.
