Multipurpose TOTAL Solution - All for $10 - Great Deal March 11, 2005 PhotoExpert (central California) This item is so very cool in four ways. 1. It protects the lens tube by creating a SOLID strong cage around the lens tube so that no dings, nicks or even, gasp, drops could hurt the lens tube. 2. It creates a very useful handhold while adjusting your model or still-life with one hand the other hand can hold the camera, lens Adapter between the Thumb and forefinger and the body on the heel of the hand. Very secure and sturdy and natural feeling and useful device. 3. With a UV / Skylight lens this creates a near waterproof sealed chamber around your lens tube, and lens! You could very easily start at the UV filter and submerse your camera lens, tube and up to where the adapter threads into the Camera body. I'm very sure you would not have water coming into the mechanism. Amazing! Don't try this at home or the lake. But just in case it happened it's worth $10 for this alone. 4. This adapter is a few millimeters longer than the Olympus lens adapter which costs almost 3x more. So this price is right. And So this lens adapter does not require the Olympus (extra $) adapter ring to keep the camera's lens from hitting the end and filter on the adapter. Tiffen did it right. The lens adapter threads on to the camera perfectly and it can and should be left on all of the time. The color black lends the correct color for an Olympus camera. 43mm threads allow for a plentiful supply of filters like Polarizing, Circular Polarizing, UV, Skylight, yellow, red, green (for Black and White work) and even IR for Xray type photos or very interesting sky and water photos. Buy this device!
No vignetting on my C-3040Z September 23, 2003 M. Cram (Philly, PA USA) I've had this "adapter" on my C-3040Z for a year now and haevn't had any problems with vignetting. The only time I might detect a very slight issue is when I have more then two filters on the camara. I also have the 2X telephoto lense and again I have no problems at all. It also protects the camaras lense!
Perfect solution May 18, 2003 loosenut (CA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I installed this adapter on my C-5050 Zoom. It solved my fear of turning on the camera with the lense cap still on (5050 owners know what I am talking about!). It is well made and well suited to this camera. It is black so it looks like it belongs on this camera. It is just slightly longer than the extended camera lense, so any filter will not contact the lense (a concern with the Olympus CL-1 tube). I take photos at all zoom settings and have not had a problem with vignetting. Get this, it works...looks cool and is cheap insurance to protect your lense.
Olympus Camedia Lens Adapter February 27, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got this adapter because I found it cheaper than Olympus' version, the CLA-1 adapter. However, when I put it on my C-3040, I found most of the pictures I took demonstrated vignetting (hazy shadows around the edges). Despite the fact that this adapter did physically fit on my lens, it did not do the job I needed it to do. I have since returned it and purchased the CLA-1 adapter and have had not problems with it yet.
