Fantastic lens for cheap price. July 20, 2008 Myxa I just received the lens a couple of hours ago. I tried it on my D40 and the results were amazing. I bought the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 two months ago and it does give very good results so far. However this lens is from the very first photos is much better. So far I noticed on the lens the following: Barrel distortion isn't as obvious as in my Sigma lens. Colors are are the Nikon warm colors as always. Very light and small unlike the bulky Sigma 30mm lens. And of course it would have been a dream if it's AF-S. But for a 100$ you can't buy a star! Anyway, I just got it and I'm extremely satisfied with it, the results are just wonderful to me. Even I have to manually focus on the D40, I'm still happy with it, I think it's gonna be on my camera for the coming couple of days.
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 July 17, 2008 Inben Naidoo (South Africa) I have a grownig collection of lenses, including the great 18-200mm VR and 70-300mm VR lenses, yet the lens I use most of the time is the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens. It works exceptionally well on my D50 where it focusses fast and with auto ISO...I get very sharp images with the available light, without having to use the flash. It also works well on my F80 film camera. Every Nikon SLR owner should have one of these lenses in their bag. (There are auto-focus issues with D40, D40x and D60...but I believe you can focus manually even with these cameras for great results.)
Great Lens for the Price July 17, 2008 Purplelace (Memphis Tn) This is a great lens for such a discounted price. I only used zoom lenses before the purchase of this lens. The depth of field is awsome on this lens. Of course on the Nikon D40 (D40x and D60)the lens does not autofocus because this particular camera does not have in-body focus ability. It took a few shots before I could perfect focusing but once I did that I loved it. If you can deal with having to actually exercise while taking pictures then this lens is for you.
Great little lens... July 11, 2008 D. Regenold This is an excellent lens for the price. It takes incredibly clear pictures and is great for low light situations.
BEWARE D60 USERS *** July 9, 2008 2new2nikon (westchester county, ny) 1 out of 12 found this review helpful
I received the lens, couldn't wait to use it in action. The lens has NO AUTOFOCUS with the D60!!! What an incredible disappointment! How could a Nikon lens not have AF on a camera that was just released? This makes no sense but it works fine on a d300...no fair! Shots are sharp but it stinks to go back in time and have to manually focus.
