Product Description When used in combination with Nikon's latest digital SLRs, the D70 or D2H, the SB-600 supports Advanced Wireless Lighting as a remote Speedlight that can be positioned as one of multiple remote flashes to significantly extend creative possibilities. To assist in such situations, the Speedlight SB-600 also has a readylight located beside the LCD on the rear panel that can be easily seen from a distance. The SB-600 can also emit an audible alert for further assistance. Easy-to-view LCD with 6 simple-to-understand backlit buttons Guide Number of 30/98 [ISO100,m/ft], 42/138 [ISO200,m/ft] (at 35mm zoom) Auto zoom of 24 to 85mm, extendable to 14mm with built-in wide-flash adapter Advanced Wireless Lighting available with D2H or D70 when used as a remote Auto FP High-Speed Sync (with D2H only); use with fast shutter speeds achieves effective blurring of out-of-focus background elements Flash Color Information - optimized white balance makes use of data from the Speedlight FV lock holds flash value, enabling recomposition prior to shooting Design consistent with those of next-generation D-SLRs, with a triangular design element on the top that complements the D-SLR motif Requires 4 AA Batteries (Alkaline or Rechargeable NiCad or NIMH) for use

Nikon SB-600 October 10, 2008 R. Frew (United States) Great strobe with a very solid feel. Flawless performance and great battery life that balances well on my D70s and D40x cameras. I also have an SB-800 and the two work perfectly together in Remote mode with the D70s internal flash as the master. I took a series of test shots and progressively changed the output to judge the degree of control available. The SB-600 is capable of 1/3 f-stop output control or better. I highly recommend this strobe and think it should be your first choice over the SB-800 or new (and even more expensive SB-900) unless you have the rare need to have group control over multiple flash units or if your camera's internal strobe cannot act as a remote master. Then the SB-800 is your best bet. Otherwise, save your money and use it to buy other gear.
Great Camera Shop! October 7, 2008 James R. Wilson This is the BEST camera shop! I will always get my camera supplies from them. I am a professional photographer and will always get my camera supplies from the USA camera shop. I needed a speedlight SB 600 and it came on time and I LOVE IT. Great job USA camera shop! Great Flash - Great Deal October 4, 2008 T. Leonard (Holly Springs, NC USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased the Nikon SB-600 to replace an older Nikon SB-80 flash. I did this because of the recent changes in Nikon cameras where my SB-80 would no longer sync up. I was very reticent to make the change as the SB-80 was such a great flash...and I really couldn't justify the cost of the SB-800 for may photography hobby. My son (pro photographer) convinced me that the SB-600 would give me everything I needed in an external flash..do decided to try it. He was absolutely right! The flash works very well with my Nikon D40/Nikon 18mm-200m VR setup! I don't feel I've lost any of the functions I had with the SB-80, save for not including the flash diffuser (about $13 to buy one) that I'll have to purchase (wonder why Nikon doesn't include it like they did for the SB-80??). If you need a very high-quality external flash unit with a ton of options/funcitons...I would highly recommend the Nikon SB-600, as the price vs. what you get in quality/functionality ratio is very good. What you gain in going up to SB-800 is negligable unless you need the all the pro-level off camera remote functionality. What you lose for a small price difference if you go down to SB-400 where you lose a lot of the features and shooting distance available in the SB-600 does not justify the "savings". The Nikon SB-600 offers perhaps the best value/functionality package in the marketplace.
great strobe October 1, 2008 Kevin Salisbury (pasco wa) this is a great addition to any nikon dslr. the only thing better in portability is having more + a sb-800. get creative and use them off camera as well. i highly recommend have this flash as an addition to your gear.
Beware September 26, 2008 Jsell (ohio) Light works great and easy to use with my Nikon-D60 SLR camera but beware that not all cameras will trigger the light at a remote distance as some Nikon cameras are designed to do but mine is not.
