Product Description
For the first time, Dual Image Stabilization will be offered on Olympus' cameras in the tough category. In the cold climates where Stylus Tough-6000 thrives, you may shiver, but the camera performs sure and steady even in shaking hands. Dual Image Stabilization combines two technologies--mechanical Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization and Digital Image Stabilization--to provide one powerful anti-blur solution for capturing great images whether the photographer or the subject is moving. Olympus' mechanical Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization keeps images sharp by adjusting the internal image sensor to compensate for camera movement, even in low-light conditions when shutter speeds are slower. Additionally, Digital Image Stabilization freezes the action with high ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speeds that prevent blurry images often caused by a moving subject. There's really only one word to describe the new shockproof, waterproof, freezeproof, crushproof and shakeproof Stylus 6000 from Olympus: Tough. Built to withstand some of the harshest environments on earth, the Stylus Tough series builds on the impressive specifications of the renowned Stylus SW Series by adding Dual Image Stabilization. Now, when the Stylus Tough-6000 arrives at the windy mountain peak or dive into choppy waves, it stays steady and ready to capture blur-free images in virtually any condition. The 10-megapixel Stylus Tough-6000 is made for life's everyday adventures--especially those with kids. From the kitchen to a waterslide park and the bunny slopes, the Stylus Tough-6000 can take a drop from 5 feet, dive to 10 feet below the surface, and beat the freezing cold. It also features Tap Control to make it easy for skiers, divers and snowmen makers to control key settings without removing their gloves.

2 out of 5 stars The Verdict is still out...............   July 25, 2010
Todd
I just bought this camera for my daughter. She wanted one like her sisters (850sw) which has been great in the water and elsewhere. However. I received the camera, charged the battery, and checked it over. Read the directions. Gave it to my daughter who promptly took 140 pics on it in and out of the pool. At the very end of the first night, she came to me saying it wasn't starting up. I turned it on and it came right on without a problem. Then, the next day she said the same thing. I tried it and she was right. The little "olympus ditty" comes on with a finger pointing down onto the top of the camera on the screen then disappears, beeps about 5 times, then never turns on. I can download pics from it and the battery is charged. I have an email sent into Olympus but don't expect to hear from them any time real soon...I'll post an update if I can. BTW, it doesn't seem to have water in any of the compartments........

5 out of 5 stars I love it, but!   July 12, 2010

This is a great camera;however, the battery doesn't last that long. I guess the battery is not a lithium one. It just has a very cheap battery, but over all it takes beautiful pictures.

5 out of 5 stars I BREAK EVERYTHING!   May 31, 2010
Amanda K. Stroder (Glenwood Springs, CO)
I am not good with electronics, I either break it or lose it. But this camera is AWE$OME! i kept paying $100 here, $100 there when my screen would break on my old cameras. I as well as my friends and family have dropped this camera numerous times and is still in tact. The picture quality is great. I love the beauty mode, and the tap feature. I have nothing bad to say about this camera, i am very satisfied with it.Great purchase. This camera is a TOUGH camera for sure.

I bought this camera to take on a trip to Jamiaca and Grand Cayman. I LOVED IT. I took it to Dunns River waterfall and not only did it make threw all the water but it took amazing pictures indoor and out. it also has really great video. It took me a long time to decued which camera to buy and I am very happy I choose this one. i droped it in the waterfall, on the ground, and had it in the sand and it worked great. THe picture quality is amazing under water, out doors, inside, and even in a dark club. it has lots of good features and at a very good price. Its the best money i've spent I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!
