| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The Sigma SD14 Digital SLR camera uses the innovative, Foveon X3 direct-image-sensor that is capable of detecting red, green and blue light at every single pixel. The colors produced by this three-layered image sensor, which works like photographic film, create high definition images, rich in gradation and with impressive three-dimensional detail. There's absolutely no loss or distortion of the optical data which is transformed into a faithful image, with no omissions. The SD14 Digital SLR camera features four JPEG recording modes, a large and bright pentaprism viewfinder with 98% coverage, a built-in flash with a Guide Number of 11, 5-point AF system, a large 2.5" 150,000 pixel resolution LCD monitor as well as a user friendly design. The durable shutter mechanism has a lifespan of over 100,000 cycles, and is ideal for the demands of professional digital photography. Also included is the popular Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro Lens, which has now been improved with closer focusing capabilities - as close as 7.9" (20 cm) - and has a maximum magnification rating of 1:3, ideal for close-up photography. This lens is exclusively designed to suit the characteristics of digital SLR cameras. The characteristics of digital SLR cameras were taken into consideration when designing the lens power layout. The advanced lens design corrects various aberrations. This lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras. This lens is also specially coated to get the best color balance with a digital camera, while also cutting down flare and ghost caused by reflections from the digital image sensor and lens. It has correction for vignetting and superior peripheral brightness is ensured. Ideal as a standard quality zoom lens with added macro capability, this lens provides an equivalent range of approx. 30-85mm when used with a Sigma digital SLR camera. DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras.
